Mr. Abubakar is a highly skilled University Lecturer and Managing Partner of ZIB Consultants (ZIBCO) with extensive experience of more than 15 years in accounting, auditing, assurance, taxation, risk management, Islamic banking and finance, and strategic planning. His strong personality, excellent leadership skills, and ability to work independently while being a great team player make him a valuable member of the boards he serves on. Currently, he serves as a board member and chairman of the audit committee in different Public sector Institution’s Boards such as Zanzibar Revenue Authority, Zanzibar Economic Empowerment Agency, Mnazi Mmoja Hospital etc. With ZIBCO, he has been involved in every assignment, specifically in tax consultancy and assurance services for all of ZIBCO's clients. He has been a resource person for various training programs including IFRSs, auditing, risk management, contemporary issues in accounting, and financial accounting, among others. He is currently a full time lecturer in Zanzibar University, instructing financial accounting and auditing and assurance services.
Mr. Abubakar worked in various industries, including hotel, marine transport and agency, telecommunications, banking, and academia, at different capacities. He worked as an internal auditor with Bank of Tanzania for more than four years and as a Chief Accountant with Zanzibar Shipping Corporation for about a year. He also worked as an assistant accountant for more than three years in Zanzibar Shipping Corporation. He holds MSc in Finance from Strathclyde University and an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from The Institute of Finance Management. He is a Registered Certified Public Accountant (ACPA 2394), Registered Tax Consultant, Cobit 4.1 certificate holder issued by ISACA and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is currently pursuing Phd in Islamic Banking and Finance at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
